Sweet Deliverance

Pastoral Care and Counseling Training Program

OUR METHOD:
The counseling and training provided by SDPCCTP is based on Temperament Theory, and the treatment provided is Temperament Therapy:

The Theory of Temperament is that temperament is the part of the inner man placed within him by God in the womb. And remains throughout life. Man is a spiritual being, created by God with a precise order and balance of body, soul and spirit. The spirit encompasses man’s temperament and the heart is the binding, blending, and balancing agent within the temperament, that overlaps the soul and spirit, providing this precise order of God.

The Therapy of Temperament is: understanding the inner man and applying that knowledge to bring balance into all three areas of the temperament, i.e., Inclusion, Control and Affection. By bringing balance into these three areas of temperament, the foundation is laid to balance the body, soul and spirit.

Temperament Therapy identifies the temperament needs in the counselee and helps them find the balance and relieve the inner stress. It helps them find peace within themselves and their environment and with God.

The foundational principal of the services Sweet Deliverance provides is based on the understanding that the Word of God is the final authority to any given situation, Jesus Christ is the ultimate counselor, the leading of the Holy Spirit is paramount, and the gifts and fruit of the Spirit must be in operation.

Curriculum:
Sweet Deliverance Pastoral Care and Counseling Program is in the process of becoming a Certified Academic Institution (CAI) empowered to train and counsel through the National Christian Counselors Association (NCCA). As a CAI, it will teach curriculum that leads to licensures, certifications and credentials as follows:

- Certified Pastoral Counselor
- Licensed Pastoral Counselor
- Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselor
- Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselor
- Counselor-Advanced Certified

In addition, the following degrees can be obtained:

- Bachelors in Christian Counseling
- Masters in Clinical Christian Counseling
- Doctorate in Clinical Christian Counseling

The curriculum will start in the classroom and include hands on learning experience in the church and community. The course will begin by covering basic counseling skills and move on to advance counseling skills and clinical supervision. The student will spend the necessary time on each course. At the completion of the training course, the student will spend a specified amount of time reviewing for examinations. In some cases, the student will take the examination immediately after completing the course. The courses will be offered at various times.

Before actually participating in counseling sessions, the trainee will have Elders’ classes that include training in serving communion, the gifts of ministry, bible study, prayer, intercession, counseling, etc., which is what we are preparing them to do. Ministering to people is a critical aspect of Christian ministry and the most mystified. The essence and purpose of this program is to give the PC trainee all the knowledge and support they need to function in this crucial area of deliverance.
