WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO:

The mission of Pouring the Oil Publications is help people publish books to exhort, edify and build-up the Body of Christ by helping people publish the books, pamphlets and literary visions God has impregnated them with so that by giving birth to these gifts, talents and abilities authors and readers can soar as God has called them to soar in Him. This is achieved by providing a ministry that walks with the writer through the various stages of the publication process -through to completion.

The publication entity, from hereon named Pouring the Oil Publications (POP) functions as a ministry of helps to authors and aspiring writers that desire to publish the Word of God through poetry, prose, testimony, biography, autobiography, various other genre, posters, printings, t-shirts and more.

PÖP invests time, energy, money and human resources according on a designated project according to the leading of the Holy Spirit and based on the readiness, consistency, follow-through and commitment of the author. In particular cases where directed and empowered by the leading of the Holy Spirit, PÖP will take on the major responsibilities of the publication project; this may also include covering the costs of publication through fund raising or donation. In most cases, however, the author will be responsible for paying any and all fees concerning the final production of the book or project item.

Because PÖP is a ministry of helps, its specific fees for services are reasonable and flexible, and we accept free will offerings and denotation as the giver is so led. The ministry believes God for increase based on Luke 6:38. In addition, it generates funds by publishing and selling various publication items such as books, bookmarks, calendars and more. In exchange for services, PÖP requests to be listed as the publisher of the book or publication item.

This accomplishes two things. First, it puts the ministry on the map as a viable publication entity, and secondly it creates a method by which the author's work can be available through a publication company. The latter offers leverage to the writer because when dealing with short-run publishing marketing is often limited to the author, but when a publication company oversees the ordering and distribution of a book there is potential for wider sell. For example, if an author works for a school there are probably guidelines that will not allow the school to directly purchase books from the employee (conflict of interest). The school will, however, be able to purchase books written by the employee directly from the publisher at a discounted rate. In a case like this, PÖP will stand as publisher and cover the author thereby allowing books to be purchased by the employer. A transaction fee is required for this service, but the author receives a healthy royalty.

The author is responsible for the total cost for printing, but maintains all rights and ownership of the product unless otherwise agreed buy the parties. Beyond those expenses, the author retains all the profits. Of course, when distributing books to bookstores and distributors, different percentages apply.

When publishing through traditional publishing companies, authors generally receive a maximum of five to ten percent -- some author twenty -- royalty of the cover price. Because PÖP is a ministry, it is designed to help a multitude of publications ministries – i.e. authors/writers – spring forth one vessel at a time, and to empower them with the potential to control sixty to one hundred percent royalty based on the cover price. In addition, a seven to ten hundred percent profit can be made on the original investment cost depending on the marketing and reinvestment strategy used by the author. Final, what is born out of this process is a ministry tool that is placed in the hands of the writer, which can be used as a continuous funding source and channel to help people.
